Services

The Local Storytelling Exchange helps organisations connect with the public in a more human, compelling and locally grounded way. We bring deep expertise in climate storytelling, behaviour change communication and narrative strategy. Our services range from frontline story gathering to high-level training and advisory.

Whether you’re looking to shift attitudes, deepen engagement, or make your campaign feel more rooted in place, we can help.

Strategic Advice

We work with organisations and coalitions to develop messaging strategies that align mission with public imagination. Our approach draws on behavioural insights, proven narrative frameworks, and years of experience shaping stories that resonate across political and cultural divides.

Whether you’re launching a new initiative, reassessing your public narrative, or seeking to reach beyond the usual audience, we offer tailored support to help clarify your voice and strengthen your communications strategy.

Case Study: Larger Us
Larger Us approached the Exchange for support in refining their communications. Through a full-day workshop, we helped the team reconnect with the emotional core of their mission and identify the audience and narratives that would resonate most powerfully with their mission.

“It was such a helpful session and so well put together – it really developed our thinking, got us to clarity on junking what we thought we were trying to do, and above all brought into focus a whole load of really exciting new directions as we shift from thinking about participant experience to political impact.” – Larger Us

Workshops & Training

We offer engaging and practical workshops on climate communication, narrative framing, and person-centred storytelling. Our training sessions are designed to inspire and upskill your team, helping them communicate complex issues with clarity, empathy and real-world resonance.

We’ve delivered sessions for national institutions and leading media platforms, including the National Trust, Immediate Media, and the BBC.

Case Study: Immediate Media
We delivered a bespoke storytelling workshop for editors across Immediate Media titles, with a focus on person-centred, diverse narratives in sustainability reporting. The session led directly to a collaboration with Good Food Magazine, who now regularly publish Exchange stories, bringing underrepresented voices and practical green living ideas to millions of readers.

“We are recommending you to everyone we speak to. The course was excellent. The most engaged training session we have ever run.” – National Trust

“Terrific. Such an inspiring and fun session. It was great to see the writers so engaged.” – BBC Writersroom

Storytelling & Content Creation

Our team of local storytellers, based in communities across the UK, brings an insider’s eye to the stories that matter. We specialise in finding the people and perspectives that don’t usually make the headlines but hold the key to cultural change.

We offer:

  • Feature writing and first-person storytelling
  • Documentary-style video content
  • Photography and portraiture
  • Social media packages
  • Storybanks and community listening

Whether you’re looking to amplify unheard voices, bring a human face to a policy issue, or build a story-led campaign from the ground up, we can deliver content that is authentic, moving and strategically aligned.

Case Study: Net Zero Hubs
We partnered with Net Zero Hubs to tell the story of a Wirral resident whose life was transformed by home retrofit measures. The short film is an example of climate action that centres dignity, warmth and hope.
